The Old Chapel Band came together to play one ceilidh in an Oxford college, but right from the first rehearsal (in an old chapel) it became obvious that this was never going to be a “one-off”. The energy and enjoyment that burst forth was too good not to share with a wider audience, and so it continues, constantly expanding the band's repertoire, finding tunes that give pleasure to dancers and players alike.
The Old Chapel Band has been performing with the current line-up since the summer of 2016, and, as well as delighting guests at private functions, have or will soon be performing at Chippenham and Sidmouth Folk Festivals, and at Oxfolk,  Red Fox, Stanley Halls and Unicorn ceilidh series.  See 'Gig list' for upcoming and past bookings.
The line-up is Keith Holloway - melodeons, Toby Goss - clarinet, Taz Tarry - fiddle, and Heather White - tenor saxophone.  All have built up a lot of skill and experience in playing for English country dance and ceilidh, both for private dances and public ceilidhs,  with their joint CVs including Random, New Band Anglo, English String Band and Grand Union,  as well as playing for and dancing with various morris sides over the years - a great way of mastering the art of playing well for dancing. Together they meld into a sound that has been described as lively, joyful, and very danceable.
